After decades of civil war and the absence of a functioning government in Somalia, many of the country’s youth have been left without skills to make a living, especially women who face cultural barriers. Recently – with funding from the Norwegian government – the Hayle Barise Technical Development Center reopened in Mogadishu to teach young people new job skills.
